Why are you laughing? Are you seriously trying to argue that books aren't cheaper now when they're digital?

Compare the purchase and resale of your hardcopy textbook to an e-text.
Digital will be more expensive.
If you wish to have a paper product to help studying, which many students prefer - even if you only want to print portions of the text such as some key tables / graphs / summary blocks / formulas etc, price becomes a serious impediment for digital books even when you are not re-selling a hard copy at the end of a course.
Most digital books restrict the number of pages you can download/print at one time.
Many digital books restrict the methods you can use to view them.
Many digital books restrict the amount of time you have to access them, and prohibit a download, or put an expiration on when a downloaded copy will open and allow reading.

With few exceptions you aren't saving money. You're just getting a bigger rod rammed up your arse by the publishers.

Our eyes evolved to view things in the 3-dimensional world. Our brains need tactile input to go along with visual input and cognitive processing, to produce learning.

Paper has always been superior to digital for the arena of learning.

If you're taking a worthless elective, sure, get digital and be done with it. If you are STEM or some type of science, and you aren't purchasing permanent, classic, rigorous references to keep with you as you move along - you're screwing up. And for that purpose, a couple milk crates of hard copy items is well worth lugging them around every time you move or putting them in your office etc.

The revolution will be when we get flexible and foldable screens that can open up like a notebook, allowing you to view a realistic paper copy on one side with a blank slate on the other you can write digital notes with. Even then, you'll always be limited to the screen size and with paper you can spread out your notes from several pages, right in front of you. People that deny the utility of this know nothing about cognition.

Go look at Stanford's Design stuff and the features they use for individuals and groups to come together in tackling complex problems and so forth - it's physical, it's real, it's 3D, it involves real movement, not mouse clicks.

Honestly, I don't understand why people think they can fight biology. Paper is better in some areas and we shouldn't try to get around that.

I have exceeded my limit of rants for a 24hr period but since I haven't been sanctioned or fined, I will continue at the next topic.

On a side note, David Hogg has volunteered to undergo full body cavity searches in the interest of school safety. He has even purchased Astroglide to facilitate the anal portion.
