Agree on Marshall Tucker, somewhat disagree on CDB.
The CDB hits about as middle of the road between country and rock as you can get. Kind of like Tool is hard to slot in a specific genre, CDB is like that too - not really (at least fully) country or southern rock - falls more in the category of "CDB."

CDB and Marshall Tucker could both wade pretty deep in the country pool, IMO.
