Anybody here ever make their own vibrating jig?

I was looking to make some because the z-man chatterbaits rust so easily and i am constantly having to buy new ones. I tried the Delta lures version but it doesn’t seem to run as true as the chatterbait. I’ve notice there is a split ring between the line tie of the jig and the blade on the delta lures bait and there is no split ring on the chatterbait.
Has anyone ever made any that run true?

I have nothing to contribute about making them, but I’ve caught PLENTY fish on the delta lures. I just picked up a couple more today. They may not run true, but they catch fish. I don’t buy the z-mans anymore because like you said, they rust.

That's because Z-Man has a patent on that. If you look, at all the other brands of bladed jig you'll notice that they all have split rings between the blade and the jig head.
That being said, no I've never made my own. V&M, Picasso, and Phenix all make a decent one. I've never had a problem with rust on the Z-Man baits, and I throw them in brackish water.

I make my own chatter baits and also in-line spinners. On my chatter baits I use a jig head with the eye rotated 90 degrees from normal, (found them at one of the on-line parts sellers) then split ring to blade.
I use a clip on blade for the line tie, no split ring there.
Runs straight, catches fish.

From what I understand Z-Man have that direct blade connection on lockdown and fight vigorously to keep it that way. I don't think you can even buy the open eye hooks to pour your own. I have heard of folks using a punch to open the eye of the hook on the jig head and closing it back on the blade.
