It's because those areas were huge labor pools for LSU from the time campus moved from downtown in 1925. From custodians to cafeteria workers, Lower middle class employees who walked to work around Campus benefited from living so close.

Then It (d)evolved into your typical 'hood' by the 80s. More ya know.

Years ago tigerland was where all the LSU students lived....now it's a a dump on a good day.... SAD to say so are all the bars in tigerland...take your pic LSU has a terrible bar scene compared to other major SEC schools.... just like tigerland is a section 8 dump so are the bars
