Gun rights don't come from the second amendment

Whenever there is a gun massacre, statists inevitably respond that it’s time to repeal the Second Amendment. The idea is that if the Second Amendment is gone, so will be the right to own guns in the United States. There is just one big problem with that position: It’s wrong. The Second Amendment, like the First Amendment, doesn’t give anyone any rights. Instead, it prohibits the federal government from infringing on rights that are natural and God-given and that preexist government. The Declaration of Independence sets forth the essential principles. Every person (i.e., not just American citizens) is endowed by nature or God with fundamental rights. These include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thus, given that people’s rights are natural and God-given, they preexist government. The rights come first and the government comes second. What is the purpose of government? The Declaration answers the question: The purpose of government is to protect the existence and exercise of people’s natural, God-given rights.
quote:
The American people finally decided to go along with the deal. The biggest argument that finally sold it to them was that the U.S. Constitution, which called the federal government into existence, strictly limited the powers of the federal government to those few powers that were enumerated in the document. Those enumerated powers did not include the power to infringe or destroy people’s natural, God-given rights — rights, again, that preexisted the federal government. Thus, even without the Bill of Rights, the federal government had no legitimate authority to control what people read or what people owned, including books and guns. That’s because these rights preexisted the government and because the Constitution did not give the federal government the power to infringe on these preexisting rights.
quote:
In fact, some people even argued that by enumerating some rights in the Bill of Rights, that might be construed to mean that those were the only rights that were being protected. That’s why the Ninth Amendment was enacted — to point out that that was not the intention. The reason the Bill of Rights was enacted was because of the deep concern that our American ancestors had about the threat that the new federal government would pose to their rights and liberties. They believed that this government — their government — would inevitably end up doing what every other government in history has done — destroy there rights. That’s why they enacted the Bill of Rights — to hammer the message home that the American people were expressly prohibiting the federal government from traveling the road to tyranny that all other governments in history had travelled.

We, unlike every other place on this earth, were founded to be a nation without tyranny...period. Guns are the only thing that stands between us and the nullification of our constitution and our country.
Without guns, we have no Bill of Rights. We have no freedoms, and our constitution is null and void. Who and what will make sure the government abides by it? Our guns are our insurance policies.

And completely ignoring, usurping, obfuscating, and violating the 10th Amendment is why we have a tyrannical federal government and judiciary right now.

The very fact that you have to pay a tax in most states to carry a gun is absolute proof. Our nation has been operating as a 50% defacto marxist nation since the 1910's. The very reason we have federal income tax is because of the unity of bankers and marxists from that time period.
Who and what will make sure the government abides by it? Our guns are our insurance policies.

Whatever dude.
Call it what you will. It's a natural right, not conveyed by any other person or people.

Why do you hate the declaration?

My comment had little to do with guns, Skippy. Read the Constitution and Bill of Rights, paying close attention to the 10th Amendment, and then tell me how the Departments of Education, Energy, and about 98% of the other government agencies we live under are Constitutional.
Try being smart, rather than leaving comments you think sound smart.

I belive in God and I do belive our rights derive from him and that we are created in his image and unique. The vast majority of Americans also believed this at the writing of the constitution.

You seem to get gleeful every time you post about a tyrannical government and it's power to use force against its citizens. Why?

Hear that guys?
The ackchewally guy just said 150 million armed citizens shouldn't even bother with the 2nd amendment, because American troops will nuke their own families if generic president libtard commands they do so.
I guess it's over. We should just melt our guns into plow shares like good comrades.

quote:Sorry for posting a fact. The whole "guns will save us from the evil government" trope is fantasy. I like guns. I own guns. If the government wanted to kill us all, they could. Period. Now that would involve a lot of maniacal strangeness from a pretty decent sized group, but they would prevail, unfortunately.

Because that's exactly how marxist/socialists have taken and maintained control, everywhere they have fooled the ignorant and corrupt into putting them in power. It's what they do, and how they expect to crush dissent when given the opportunity.
It's also why they go after rifles like the AR at every opportunity, when they account for statistically none of the murders by firearm. They want all effective means of resistance and revolt crushed.

And yet things like civil asset forfeiture and NSA dragnet surveillance still exist.

The British government also thought their soldiers could beat farmers.

quote:well, it failed. We are an overtaxed prison state with extensive, obtrusive surveillance and policing apparatus that violates multiple amendments routinely. Hell, the 2nd is violated every single day, as is the 1st, 4th, 5th,and 10th.
We, unlike every other place on this earth, were founded to be a nation without tyranny.
That's not even touching on the tyranny we export abroad.
