I wouldn’t do the longer, unfinished trail with kids that young unless you’ve done stuff like this before.
Or if you have done that trail and thought: meh.
Because odds are you’ll be carrying one if not both for parts of the trail. Not because of danger, but sheer exhaustion from the kids. Up the hill and down the hill. Up the hill and down the hill.
What’s worse is you are kinda committed once you start. Trail blazer markers are in one direction. Be advised there is only a bathroom at the trailhead, and the full loop with kids can easily take as long as 4-5 hours to do.
I foresee potentially a lot of this:
