How big of a step has China really taken and, what has the US done in response to these threats? How do we compare?
I really do believe in our dear leader, but I don't want to find this out.
A war with China is one where we all lose.

They don't want war either, they just want a military powerful enough to discourage the US from intervening in their upcoming land(ocean) grabs for resources.
We will continue to do FONOPS, and they won't prevent that. But I doubt we interfere when they start drilling in others Economic Zones. It's coming.

It's these kind of vague, meaningless headlines that piss me off. Bigger threat in what sense? Virtually anything is a lethal threat to US foreign policy objectives, because US FP objectives are either poorly defined and littered with platitudes about "national interest" , or hyper focused on unimportant tactical level issues in an effort to solve high level, strategic problems.
It's a complete joke what passes for strategery in the US, and that includes virtually every well known FP "expert".
