I agree it’s stupid

But they probably do it to see how he reacts / answers to weird questions. Who knows?

This is exactly why they ask the question. A perfect example of how not to react is how OBJ reacts during games when guys have supposedly questioned his sexuality. They're asking it to see if it gets under your skin and to what extent if any.

That's what I think. I don't think they particularly care if he likes men or not.

Maybe it matters if he doesn't flip out when he hears something he may find outrageous because NFL players will say anything to get under an opponent's skin.

That's not really a valid excuse.
I was a manager/executive for over 30 years. Anyone who asked such a question in any of the organizations in which I was employed would have been severely reprimanded or fired.
I believe that in some mouth breathing, knuckle dragging states like Mississishiti it's perfectly okay to discriminate against LGBT.
My simple question is "where the hell is that interviewers sense of decency and humanity?"
