They were friends with the sheriff. They allowed DCS in there. Why wasn't this approach possible?

Your buddy is full of shite. The bullet holes in the door on the front of the compound were all mostly from the front and shot inside.
That's why the front doors are now missing from all evidence and never got to see the inside of the courtrooms as evidence.
The facts are the atf botched it up from get go and it was cover our was from there.
Read the Gary the fbi negotiators book he wrote.
All that said Koresh was a grade A piece of shite.
They could have arrested him multiple times anywhere without a firefight

It's funny how all the video the ATF shot disappeared and pages of surveillance logs disappeared. I don't see how anyone could take the ATF's side on this issue. It was a complete cluster.
During the siege they went even more nuts, they gassed the part where they believed the children were for 2 damn hours. Enough to kill the kids with the gas from inhalation.

I know for a fact that is how arrest warrants are served every day in this country.
I also know for a fact that it is highly abnormal to use 2 trailer loads of heavily armed ATF agents to serve one.

Yep. It was a huge frick up.
Tons of incriminating documents and evidence just disappeared afterwards.
People also keep bringing up the children and abuse. The warranty was for firearm inspection ONLY
The atf has zero jurisdiction over children.

The FLIR tape of the ending is interesting too. I have access to FLIR equipment and tried to make the flashes using a small mirror on the ground. I don't think they were reflections.
Then you got good ole boy Lon from Ruby Ridge saying he never fired shots and there were 4 casings found at his location.

The helicopters would have had to have been flying in circles at mach 2 in order for the reflections to flash at the rate they did......and reflective material would have had to have been in a pattern on the ground that could not have been made by chance.

What really pisses me off is that all the ATF had to do was arrest Koresh during one of his jogs outside the compound.

No doubt....but people in this thread will tell you that the ATF was afraid of the Davidian's turning into a military force and marching on Waco to free Koresh (seems laughable I know)...or that they would commit mass suicide (they themselves have said they had no plans for mass suicide besides would that have been worse than what they actually caused to happen)....This is a real situation where if you cut of the head of the snake the monster dies.

He went into the house where the agents were staying for surveillance.
They could have cuffed him at any moment.
The atf needed a firefight and they did what it took to get it

The Davidians did NOT have a .50 cal machine gun. They did have a semi automatic magazine fed Barret Model 82.
The decision to use tanks, specifically tank retrievers (instead of the Bradley's they were previously using) was because HRT snipers had ID'd the .50 cal sniper rifles and Koresh told FBI negotiators that he had larger munitions than the .50 cals.
The Feds feared that the Bradley's armor would not be able to stop the munitions that Koresh alluded to having.

He was sexually abusing children. We had to stop him.
Well, killing most of the children is one way...

Most of the children's autopsies are Doe's because they coudln't specifically identify them...and the cause of death (of most) is unknown because they couldn't determine if they were dead prior to the fire due to CS or died due to the fire.

I believe this, I went down snooping around their compound a few years ago, stopped in a little bar/restaurant and had a beer, the owners of that place said Koresh would come in there, as well as freely frequent other local businesses all the time, everyone we talked to seemed to think he was a nice guy, their words, not mine, the bar owners said he would come and play guitar and sing on some nights

Just finished the 6 part series on paramount.
They never one alluded to kids getting abused other than when FBI met with Reno and said so.
Actually the fat guy in charge looked at the other one with a look of you just lied.
Not saying it didn't happen... show just didn't portray that.
Which is sort of important wouldn't you think, changes things a bit.

That's true. I worked for 4 years with a guy named Louis Alaniz that was the guy who walked through the fbi barricade and knocked on the door. I believe he stayed a few days inside while the standoff was going on.
You don't hear much in the media about him but he is in the transcripts and was arrested when he left a couple days before they burnt it down.
That's where a lot of my info comes from.

Pretty much why they left the local law enforcement in the dark about the raid, they were all friends down there and were liked by the community.
I would really like to know why this giant raid had to be done. Someone called it a nice big show to take down some white religious gun nuts so the ATF could go before a Democratic appropriations meeting and get more money. They were facing diversity lawsuits at the time, so this was a nice little cherry to get some money.

Even the Washington Post took the Clinton DOJ to task for these claims, saying they were substantiated.
No matter, the useful idiots in this country believe unverified claims of child abuse are reason enough to bring tanks and military tactics to the table.

80+ innocent people didn't have to die for that to happen.
Don't forget the reaction that came in the form of Timothy Mcveigh. The whole thing was a shitshow from the start handled very poorly by Clinton and Reno.
