Guys thanks for all of the comments, suggestions and advice. I haven't been to Europe or the UK. So maybe we will split up the trips and do two separate at different times. It will be me and my wife, we want to see the scenery, locals, wine and sites. I guess we have a lot to think about and start planning on the most important places we want to visit. I do know Paris will be one for sure.

Now, you’re giving us something.......fly the nonstop BA to London, enjoy it for a week, then take the Eurostar train to Paris. This is efficient, as you simply take the underground to the train station and get on the train (no arriving hours early like at the airport). Train drops you at Gare du Nord; you can pick a hotel near one of the pink line metro stops to make things easier on you. Side day trips out of London and Paris abound, in case you think you’ll tire of the city.

Single biggest tip for a novice Euro traveler: pack light. Every hotel offers laundry service, or find a self service laundromat. It is much easier to manage a single wheeled small case and backpack than a gigantic case plus other bags.
