Instead of learning one thing well, let’s learn two things half-assed and never be good at either.
Prime example of why we really bad at both.

Interesting. Can you provide some resources backing your claim?

It’s actually the living constitutionalist crowd that makes things up.
They even admit it.

"Do they still teach civics in high school?"
Yep, and I do my best to crank out productive Conservative members of society!
Here's some real data and facts from roughly 20 years of teaching it in multiple parishes. In my honors classes, roughly 85% of the students would identify themselves as conservatives by the time they've completed the course. In the regular or "on level" classes, that number drops to about 50%...

Makes sense.
The ones that grasp it the best are conservatives.

There was a creepy, pervy civics teacher at my high school. He coached girls track and cross country too. Dude was a creeper. I’m shocked he hasn’t been the subject of another thread here yet.

How can you explain how so many people are so ignorant about our country and its Constitution?
Because groups like the NRA bombard people with propaganda in an intentional effort to promote a reading of the constitution which ignores plain language for result oriented advocacy.

I managed to miss civics.
They had to memorize the preamble.
I kept hearing negativity from friends about the coach who taught civics. I was blessed to miss that bogosity.
Majored in history so it's not like I missed out. Senior course on constitution.

I’m guessing that English isn’t your specialty.

I guess the NRA is the biggest bad guy going right now. This shite would be funny if it wasn't so stupendously ignorant.

Funny enough my wife teaches it.
Each week my wife has them answer three questions.
1) What did you learn this week that you did not know?
2) What changed about something you thought you knew?
3) What came as a total Surprise?
Just this week my wife told me that one her students revealed to her that she was surprised by how little her parents actually knew about how the government works.
She said it has been nice being able to explain some things to them.

This is because they teach the kids about our country and the Constitution.

They teach math and science too. And yet there are still creationists on this forum.
