Good question. About 4 years ago I sat on the advisory board for my child's school. Around that time a school shooting occurred, probably Sandy Hook, but I honestly don't remember. I brought up being proactive about our school security and we took additional measures. Bullet proof coating for the glass on the main windows near access points, security gates and most importantly an armed sherriff's deputy with a sheriffs patrol car parked right in front of the school.

That's what it looks like.

I might add, that there have been a few incidents that have occurred and the response and communication with the parents has been exceptional.

ETA and it doesn't bother my kids one bit (girls). They all know the deputies and as far as they are concerned, he's just part of the staff.
