Another Houston/Dallas thread

Dallas has to be the most pretentious city outside of Los Angeles. Dallas is nice and all, but littered with arseholes and divas. Also, most people that live there are in a constant battle with other people to prove how much money they can spend as they max out their credit cards.
Houston, on the other hand, I feel is composed of a lot more humble population with a far more diverse economy. Just as nice but has it’s shitey areas (just like any other city). Yeah, it’s more humid... the Dallas folks seem to not be able to handle humid weather, even though most of the people on this board are originally from southern Louisiana or some other southern region of a southern state. That is their biggest counter argument from any Dallas person that I’ve talked to when arguing which city is better. Dallas traffic is also just as bad as Houston’s... no quesion. I do think Houston has far better toll road systems, though. Dallas’s tollways seem to always be clogged up with traffic, which defeats the purpose.
I will say that the Dallas burbs edge out Houston’s, but inside the loop of Houston kicks inner Dallas’s arse. Houston still has great suburbs, with The Woodlands being the king of any suburb in Texas (kiss my arse).
Also, IAH > DFW. That is all.

Downtown/uptown Dallas >>> in the loop Houston

Laredo is nice this time of the year.

Dallas loses in the head to head simply because of the Rangers and Cowboys. But

Downtown Dallas really kind of blows. Houston is trying to change downtown as well but also still not great. The best neighborhoods in both cities are definitely not downtown

Please explain how Dallas has a more diverse economy.

5 years ago, I almost took a job working in Laredo

You got shot down and embarrassed in the Bishop Arts, admit it.

I meant more "inner city" Dallas (not the suburbs) than downtown

Dallas city
Houston burbs
Both have shite traffic, but neither are worse than Austin

I lived inside the loop in Houston and I now live in uptown in Dallas. Freaking love em both.

Dallas > Houston. It's really not a debate.

Houston lives and dies on the price of oil.

Yeah I agree overall and I’m a Houston homer. The inner core neighborhoods in Dallas are not quite as spread out and cleaner. I wish both central business districts would improve and not just be gigantic high rise office parks

The medical industry here is very strong with Texas Medical Center. It’s definitely closely tied to oil though obviously

a lot of my business runs through houston. One need look no further than what happened to the Houston real estate market during the last oil crash.

I take it you haven't been to downtown Dallas lately.....its completely turning...I am talking the old central district and not Uptown

Oh but you forgot about the largest medical district in the world, the cancer research capital of the world, NASA, financial sector, etc....

Growth slowed a down a ton but I didn’t see any numbers that showed foreclosures skyrocketed or anything. If it had stayed down longer that certainly could have happened
