ETA - sometimes it's only for a set time period after which the maintenance becomes a government responsibility

and that's fine if you cherry pick the most profitable routes but let's not pretend that a new interstate that connects Geismer to White Castle is going to be some big money maker. I'm 100% on board with this being a toll road but there's a reason no companies are offering to do this for free in exchange for collecting a toll.

Toll roads are usually not solely private ventures. The ones that are typically fail.
