Why hasn't Mueller Indict Russians Over the DNC Hacking

Now that Robert Mueller, the Russiagate special counsel, has indicted 13 Russian actors—including the shadowy Internet Research Agency, the “troll farm” that used social media to help elect Donald Trump, as well as Yevgeny Prigozhin, a key Russian oligarch and friend of Vladimir Putin—for meddling in the 2016 US presidential election, could his next act be to indict Russians involved in the hacking attack against the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta?

In other words, for more than a year now, and probably going back much longer, the US intelligence community—including the FBI, and therefore the investigators in the Office of the Special Counsel, too—has probably known who inside the GRU, Russia’s military-intelligence agency, and the SVR, its foreign-intelligence service, was responsible for the two bears, for the DNC and Podesta hacks, and presumably for the release of the stolen e-mails to WikiLeaks and other outlets in 2016.

Mortgage fraud investigation taking up most of his time.

This is a good piece. Never figured you for a Nation reader. I suspect the answer to your question is that the hacking is more material to more Trump campaign figures under investigation (e.g. Papadopalous having been offered connections to the Kremlin for emails obtained through this hacking, etc.) and Mueller may not want to tip his hand.

You're getting better at this, Bonds.

Watch yourself. You're getting Bonds's heart aflutter.
The campaign has said that Papadop was working alone and without approval or direction from campaign supervisors but we know from his plea that he reported his work up the chain. The dirt that DJTJ, Kushner, and Manafort sought at the Trump tower meeting were also the fruit of this hacking. Mueller still hasn't talked to two out of three of those (as far as we know). I think we will see Russian indictments related to hacking eventually, though.

Oh, I'd say the chances are good. AIVD has visuals on the hackers back to 2014.

The proggies won't touch this one.

Ah, sounds like you've got a theory. Let's hear it.

Not really a theory. Just paying attention to the modus operandi. If the democrats are accusing the republicans of doing something nefarious...it is because they have done it themselves.

just add yet to the title and you are going in the right direction.
Only Mueller and his team know the game plan. Why would he want to telegraph his plans? He wants the element of surprise I assume.

It's simple. The 13 Russians were indicted for bank fraud and wire fraud. If they were charged with DNC hacking, Mueller would have to say exactly what they hacked. Which would include that pesky DNC server. The same server the DNC won't allow to be examined by anyone on planet earth including Meuller

This isn't true. Crowdstrike examined the DNC Server.
Also, Podesta was phished... that's illegal. So that's the other crime.

What Democratic allegations do you mean, Bonds? It's the IC that's pinned the hacking on the Russians. The agencies have been consistent on this.

There was a major security incident attributed to a foreign national government but no Mr. FBI you can't examine our server. We asked crowdstrike to do it and they said we were hacked. Just trust us.

Cool. Who was indicted for that? Care to link it? Thanks in advance can't wait to read about it

Collusion with Russia. It is the Dems who engage in that type of activity. The DNC did with the Ukraine...Hillary and Obama did with Russia. The MO is to tell everyone the republicans did it....Dems are guilty Doc. Sorry. I've been trying to tell you this for months.
