the right wants better mental health facilities.
Huh? I don't think so. Too many Republicans think that personal responsibility applies to crazy people as it does to the general population. Personal responsibility from a crazy person's perspective, of course, can include violence against others. It makes perfect sense to them.
I don't see a recognition of mental illness as a national problem from Republicans. It would be great if they did, but I just can't see a Republican-controlled government laying out the money it would take to re-establish an effective mental health program in this country. The best we can hope for from them, I think, is an attempt to screen out crazy people from buying firearms. I can't see that being an effective solution because there are so many ways to acquire firearms in the U.S.

It's funny that it takes gun control conversation for Republicans to somehow want to fund some sort of mental health care. In reality they will just stand up and talk about it so that everybody drops the gun control issue but if they did actually put billions towards Mental Health Care Facilities the next generation of Republicans would talk about what a waste of money it is and how people made bad decisions on their own and shouldn't be helped
