I think a gun in every classroom is extreme, but I think some sort of air marshal type program is completely feasible.

Why can't schools designate a handful of volunteer teachers/coaches as "marshals" and pay them an extra $500 - $1000 per year to undergo basic weapons training and keep a gun in a locked safe? Hell, we have fire extinguishers for fires. We can have human garbage extinguishers for garbage humans, too.

Why can't we also provide jobs to some of our retired vets to be armed security guards at public schools?

To me, the gun debates will always go back-and-forth, and they are really just bandaid solutions anyway where people argue about which guns and ammunition we will allow criminals to kill our children with.

This is an easy debate. These assholes pick schools because they are easy targets. Let's stop making them easy targets.

I'm using this in the future and I'll be sure to give credit to the almighty Blob Fish!

I completely agree. Let the teachers volunteer for the training and have them work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to determine an effective emergency plan. Then if it starts happening the teachers and law enforcement are on the exact same page without confusion. Plus with teachers already armed at the school, the shooter doesn't know which one can shoot back and he encounters resistance almost immediately.

Just like plane hijackings are a thing of the past, this can be a thing of the past if we stop making schools so soft.
