Went to a training on this last week (I work in a public school). Stats they gave us in that training said:
285 school shootings in US last year (includes anything from a gun being fired w/no injuries to a gun being fired with fatalities)
580K shootings in the US last year
So, if those statistics are correct, there are fewer school shootings than people tend to think. Media coverage hypes school shootings far more than gang killings, domestic cases, etc.
