How bad does the 9.3x62 kick? I seriously considered getting a CZ 550 in this caliber but thought it would be Overkill for North America.

9.3x62 has basically the power of a 375 Holland and Holland......just like the 9.3x74r.
Difference is...... 9.3x62 can be put in a Medium action bolt rifle and 9.3x74r must be put in a full length magnum action Bolt Rifle.

Not bad at all. First time I shot it I was 14. Very manageable. It's a great cartridge. Get the 550. Great gun.
