I read about this yesterday, and assuming I read the article correctly, the couple’s amassed wealth was $5000 for the boat and $5000 to have it made seaworthy.

If $10000 gets you to retirement, I’m doing this shite all wrong.

It doesn't.

If they somehow raise it and try this again, they will be dead inside 6 months.

A POS 50 year old 28 footer should never leave port, yet they were trying to sail it worldwide?

Wait till they get the salvage bill. Might want to open a few more go fund me accounts.
Thinking they might have to deal with a nice fine from coast guard for pollution.
