Just watched it for at least the 50th time. It gets funnier each time.

I catch new jokes and references each time.

Perfect comedy

I appreciate that it does not insist upon itself.

It is a really well done comedy. For fans of The Wire, we have both Wendell Pierce (Bunk) as the EMT for the fat jogger and Frankie Faison (Burrell) as James (I think he's the worker behind the medicine cabinet).

The brilliant Alexander Godunov, the legendary Maureen Stapleton, the horsepower in this film (even for many to have small parts) is pretty incredible in hindsight.

Mike Starr AND Body by Jake (because I get them confused anyway, probably because of this film), Joe Mantegna, Michael Jeter, this movie is a hoot to watch to catch glimpses of these cats 35 years ago.

(ETA: My posting in this thread, in agreement with the OP should in no way be considered and endorsement of his Godfather thread - just awful.)

I honestly never found it that funny. Saw it in theater when I was a kid and didn’t love it. Saw it two years ago and while enjoy the 1980s flavor, I still didn’t laugh much.

Both are underrated. I showed both to my kids and they loved both. The scene in Burbs when Hanks is all blown up with his finger in a splint is hilarious.

Now I am having an internal argument....Which movie is better between the Burbs and the Money Pit.

Burbs has Feldawg in it so that's a plus.

I get why folks love The Burbs, but for my money Money Pit carries the day - I find it much more rewatchable and quotable - we do the "2 weeks" all the time in our family, and I do the care bears line when I'm sleep deprived.

Also, the, "I think I can guarantee a giant lawsuit" (the Cheap Girls/Meryl Streep scene) - I do that all the time, too.
