If there is only one zero, it's a wash. You have the same expected value with $5 on red as you do with $5 on red and $1 on zero.

That's fair. It is a RVR and really subjective. With an increase in bet if only 20% and an increase in reward of nearly an order of magnitude it becomes worthwhile. There is also moment where statisticians agree the RVR makes it worthwhile to play the powerball.

Again, I do not think you will get odds in excess of the house edge unless you past post or gaff. You can increase odds, but not by much.

Increasing odds from 18/37 to 19/37 with a simple 20% increase in bet and a potential 700% increase in winning numbers is a RVR that is reasonable.

Never forget 0-36 added up equals 666, i.e., the mark of the Beast.
