Rise And Shine folks The Weekend is almost here. Did you fly a kite/have a favorite kite?

1861 Delegates from seceded states adopt a provisional Confederate Constitution.
1862 Union troops under Gen. Ambrose Burnside defeat a Confederate defense force at the Battle of Roanoke Island, N.C.
1865 Confederate raider William Quantrill and men attack a group of Federal wagons at New Market, Kentucky.
1887 Congress passes the Dawes Act, which gives citizenship to Indians living apart from their tribe.
1900 British General Buller is beaten at Ladysmith, South Africa as the British flee over the Tugela River.

JOTD: Q: Is Google male or female?
A: Female, because it doesn't let you finish a sentence before making a suggestion.

There is also evidence that the people of South Sea Islands were using kites for fishing around the same time as the people of China.
Early kites were constructed from bamboo or sturdy reeds for framing. Leaves, silk or paper made ideal sails. Vines or braided fibers completed the line or tether. While kites were initially used as tools, they were also ceremonial as well. Used to send messages into the heavens or to lift offerings up to the gods, kites had a symbolic place in the culture.

The still do this down under.
Morning people.
Do they still have the kite flying contest down in New Orleans? My older brothers won it way back in the late 1960's with the biggest kite to fly.

One dude cooking breakfast for another dude sounds a little bit gay.
But you boys have fun.

Bottle rocket wood stick, piece of paper folded to a paper airplane. Install the stick across the back. Use a spool of thread. That sucker will just about go out of sight.
Kite flying was big back in the late 1960's. That is when they came out with the plastic "bat" kites.
