luckily i've always worked in small offices or for myself so i've never had to deal with one, but hearing stories from friends makes my blood boil. HR literally is the epitome of "create conflict so you can then act like you solved the conflict" behavior

Even when I work with them as outside counsel, they still find a way to draw me into their nebulous world of stupid shite

"Hey Pettifogger, my boss told me you needed _________. Can you fill out this form and then register for this platform and then call me and I can set up your training so you can view this 3 page PDF. Do you have time to skype at 3 about registering for the platform?"

You forgot the best part:

*show up at 3*

Oh, I see you registered but the other department didn’t get back to me, can you come back tomorrow after they respond?

I’ll let you in on a little secret: they didn’t send that shite till 5 minutes before you showed up.

They were too busy facebooking or talking about their pets.

this HR girl has set up (and rescheduled 4 times) a conference call to make sure I have everyone allocated correctly

I sent her a spreadsheet and asked if that's what she wanted to discuss. she said yes. why not just review my spreadsheet and say yea or nay?
