Great idea and looks very good. Did you brown the dressing mix prior to putting in the oven or simply put the skillet directly into the oven after adding the dressing and butter?
ETA: the leftover sausage could’ve also been used in a breakfast casserole.

No, once n the dressing it was fine. The dressing calmed everything down. I think this recipe could handle some pretty hot sausage. And a lot more sausage than I used, too.
