We don't know. What we do know is that J.J. Abrams said that Clover (the original monster) was a baby and that it was killed (apparently, ignore the "it's still alive" easter egg at the end of Cloverfield). Now, this obviously brought up the idea of where were mommy and daddy; so maybe that's one of them.

No. That is supposed to be a easter egg for the people who followed the ARG marketing campaign for Cloverfield.
