Colorado State has placed interim men’s basketball coach Steve Barnes on paid administrative leave just a week after he was put in charge of the program.

Barnes, CSU’s associate head coach, was dubbed the interim Feb. 3 when athletic director Joe Parker asked Larry Eustachy to go on administrative leave. Parker, along with deputy athletic director Steve Cottingham and compliance director Shalini Shanker, are running an ongoing investigation into Eustachy’s behavior and his interactions with players and staff. Eustachy is expected to be fired next week pending the completion of the investigation.

In a statement released Saturday, Parker didn’t give a reason why Barnes was placed on leave, but team sources say players spoke up about their concerns playing for Barnes in a meeting with the athletic director Friday.
