I think you could have done better.

But yes, they deserve it. Team was looking like the 3rd or 4th best team in the west before Boogie went down. Can't fault them for our franchises miserable misfortune.

Dell has been using that excuse for 5 years now. It is getting old. The reason we had misfortune this year is because the team has no depth. Boogie's injury was a direct result of playing too many minutes at too fast of a pace. He played so much because we have no depth and no backup C capable of getting minutes in Gentry's system despite $15M spent on that position.

A lot depends on Cousins as to whether Gentry and Dell get yet another year.

In a way, you can. At least for Demps. You have about $57.4 Million tied up in big men (not even including Cunningham because he has played the 3 but you could also throw in his $2.3 mil in there) and we still have no depth there. The lack of depth led to more playing time. The more playing time at least somewhat contributed to the injury. Demps could've made it more of a point to dump Ajinca for someone more useful before this point. I know it's easier said than done, but it is Demps' fault we had that much tied up in useless big men in the first place anyway. So, however you spin it, Demps is somewhat responsible.

But I don't see how bringing in a new GM that will want to go in his own direction and start over again (with ownership still hampering him the way they do) will be any better. So, we might as well keep Demps and have him do what he does best: make small trades/signings that give us diamonds in the rough at the end of the bench. That's assuming Ownership is still dead set on resigning Cousins. If they are considering not resigning him, maybe it would be time to look for a new GM. But that also destabilizes the AD situation.

As for Gentry, I'll give credit where credit is due. He may not be the best coach, but he has done a decent job this year. Much better than people give credit for. Sure, he can make some dumb in game decisions. I'm not saying he's a great coach. But he's at least proven he can have some success if he's given some time and talent. This team was beginning to reach our expectations (and exceed most of the national media's expectations). So, I wouldn't hate having him back if we're staying the course with this team.
