Because it gives one their common tactics credibility. They want to seen as journalist, and politically relevant until they screw up and say something offensive, then Maher, and others of his ilk start screaming they are only comedians, and shouldn't be taken seriously. They should suffer the consequences of their actions and not be given the opportunity too play on both sides of the fence.
