next year and will determine coaching ability effectiveness or failure for the LSU PROGRAM as we know it....personally I think our offense will be the worst it's been in 2 decades, we have no stars, no soldiers, no all sec players, no top tier talent(vandy offense)...jmo

We can return to a bowl or go mad negative next year and will define a new low in the modern lay football era....

Defense will be 1 of the best next year being a top 15 defense...

I feel like the real test was this past year for the offense and O and his chosen OC failed. So now we get to do it again.

Exactly.

This year we will have an elite defense though and if he can't generate enough offense in year 2 to have us in contention to win every game, that is unacceptable.

Jmo...I think it's gonna be really ugly on offense, unless Brennan becomes the GOAT at LSU at qb in some type of drew brees system , then we gonna suck badly....

Brees makes no name players into stars not to mention opens up truck holes for the running because of his passing.....Brennan will need to be "this"....dont see it....

I'm with you Cat if O can't win the the championship in year 2 with a fairly empty\young offense he should be shot then fired.

Winning the playoffs every year should be expected of any coach LSU hires and short of that he is a failure. And you're obviously a smart dude so how many points per game, avg. and to Bama, should our "elite" defense allow next year?

Over/under on your age is set at 15.

I just said our defense will be elite and if our offense isn't capable enough to give us a chance in every game, that is unacceptable.

In 2016 we had an elite defense and had a chance in every game, even Bama. In our 4 losses, we allowed 3 total TDs. That's the level of defense I expect next year.

We lost to Bama 10-0. I just hope our offense can deliver more than 0.

So maybe just maybe O should not have promised no rebuild and playoffs now. He is the dumb arse that made the promise and you ridicule those that take him at his word. Idiot

Efficient and Accurate.

I do agree we have some major hurdles to deal with on offense, but one thing I think can be our saving grace: The playmakers we need to step up should be coming in with huge chips on their shoulders.

Brennan was incredibly successful in high school and highly sought after. He got extremely limited playing time last season, which has stemmed a ton of skepticism and negative criticism from doubters (which is bizzare and unwarranted). I cannot imagine a guy like him (who shined in high school / Elite 11) does not feel like he needs to prove himself and silence the doubters when given an actual opportunity to succeed.

Additionally, same can be said about our running backs. The past 3 season with Fournette and Guice coming in, we knew we had workhorse studs who didn't necessarily need to "prove themselves" as starters. With guys like CEH and Brossette, these dudes are hungry and will need to prove it to win playing time (and or be the starter)

I think both the QB / RB positions will surprise a lot of people next year -- obviously assuming our HC/OC can come up with a serviceable game play that sets them up for success.

I think the RB spot is better than people realize too.

I think CEH is a lot stronger and more durable than people think and Curry will get a ton of hard carries.

1000%

They are being lost in the QB talk and OC talk. They are not flashy, big names like we have had in years past, but I think they can be more than serviceable and will be just fine.

James Cregg

After three seasons at his alma mater, Cregg moved on to Colgate (2000-03) and Idaho (2004-06), coaching the defensive line at both stops.

At Colgate, Cregg was part of a staff that led the Raiders to the 2003 NCAA Division I-AA championship game. Colgate won 21-straight games during his time on the coaching staff. In four years at Colgate, claimed two Patriot League titles and finished in the top 10 in the nation in rushing defense twice.

In 2009, he was hired to coach the offensive line at the University of Tennessee. That season, the Volunteers allowed just 12 sacks, tied for fewest on the Southeastern Conference.

Cregg spent one season in Knoxville before moving to California to become the offensive line coach at USC for the next four seasons (2010-13). Cregg coached first-team All-Pac-12 selections in each of his four years with the school, including offensive tackles and future NFL first-round picks Tyron Smith (No. 9, Dallas, 2011) and Matt Kalil (No. 4, Minnesota, 2012).

In 2011, USC finished second in the nation in sacks allowed (eight) despite not starting a senior along the offensive line. Kalil was named first-team All-America, while guard Marcus Martin was chosen as a first-team Freshman All-America.

IF LSU has the best Oline it's had in 2 decades it will be impossible to have the worst offense it has had in 2 decades.

Fair response Cat.But I want your prediction on points allowed next year so I'll know how many points our O has to avg. theoretically, for us to win.

And you missed on the age by decades.

there is no way that our offense will be worse than some of miles' offense. '08, as an example (I might be getting the year confused), our OL was the worst in history. our offense could n't gain ONE YARD against Wisconsin 2 years ago in TWO tries and that was with leornard fricking fornette!

do you even know the all sec players? I don't believe they have been selected yet.

pessimism is one thing man, but you are just over the top nuts. we have a lot of highly rated players on offense and will not define a new low of any era (much less your mythical modern lay era).

what you need to do is quit keeping up with LSU football. you take it way to serious. your mental health, which sounds precariously out of balance already, may depend on it.

I think the real question you should be asking is if SE can put up more than 0 points against Bama.

The real test is developing a new starting QB that won't make us suffer too many growing pains. Sure hope it is one of the dual threats. Not that I dislike Myles. I just feel that we need a really good dual-threat to compete better in the SEC.
