I really have no idea where you get that idea from.

Those places have pretty stringent requirements.
From the foreign-born population percentages. LINK

Australia: 28%
New Zealand: 25%
Canada: 22%
USA: 14%

And also from the ANZSCO Strategic Skills List. As I said, there are entries for bricklayer, carpenter, diesel mechanic, etc., on top of the usual wish list of doctors and engineers. In the US right now there basically isn't a way for regular joe tradesmen to legally immigrate, nor would there be under the admin's dumb RAISE Act.

Well yes.

But those nations choose their list of professions they are willing to accept based upon need. Hence, there are actually some high caliber professions NOT on the list.

Regardless though. While it is probably true that knee jerk, a lot of conservatives would not like large numbers you speak of, that's a function of current experience.

But, if you can largely shut down mooching immigration, I suspect you short circuit most complaints about large numbers of PRODUCTIVE people showing up. And, i mean....REALLY productive. Not skin of their teeth, need govt aid productive.

The reality is, the U.S. could be picky as frick and take only the best of the best and STILL be turning away tons of people due to sheer numbers.

Those other three countries are all still technically part of the UK Commonwealth of Nations, which has some distinguishing "immigration" type provisions among member nations, but that would still technically count as "foreign born." I wonder if that comes into play here to skew these numbers well beyond what we are typically thinking of as "foreign immigrants" from our perspective.
