I like that trip because You don't get the same scenery coming and going. You just take the triangular route, and the drive stays fresh. Personally, I like the route through the mountains along Hwy 6 better than Hwy 26. The star of the drive, though is the drive down the coast between Cannon Beach and Tillamook.

Cannon Beach is an awesome town, btw. It's very classy (especially when compared to the town of Seaside, just north). Downtown Cannon Beach is very walkable and has plenty of coffee shops, restaurants, art galleries, and other such stuff.

Don't worry about the weather. 50's and showers are pretty normal here in the winter. Just wear a hoodie with layers underneath and jeans, and you'll be fine. Like I said, the storms and rough sea are fun to watch.
