Spoken like a person who didn't grow up watching in the 80s. Defense was a joke back then.

Da fuq?

What a myth this has become among Millenials.

And yes, I watched the 1984 Finals. Prohibition on zone provided more defense as everyone was in everyone's face...not just standing around letting Steph Curry jack up 3's beyond the arc.

When Larry Bird shot a 3, there was Michael Cooper all up in his face even if Bird was 35 feet from the basket.

Oh really?

8 of the top 10 highest league average field goal percentages were from the 80’s. The other two were 1978 and 1979.

And the two years from the 80’s that were outside the top 10 were 1988 and 1989, and those years ranked 11th and 12th.

So the entire 80’s were 10 of the 12 highest field goal percentages in NBA history.

Why?

Because they played zero defense in the 80’s.

because bird did not have the threat of blowing by you. i am a steph hater lol. but the dude has amazing handles and speed, and prob the quickest release we have ever seen...throw in that he can consistantly drain 3s from anywhere once he crosses half court, he is prob the hardest player in history to guard rim to rim
