I wish this got more coverage just off the basic principle of awareness

I didn’t see it garner that much attention on TV last night. I fear that because it is a West Coast team that isn’t in a big market that it won’t be much of a thing

I don’t recall a situation like this where the expected starting QB of P5 school took his own life

Hopefully we aren’t just numb to things like this in today’s society

i work in mental health, and this is a very real issue. Mental health is ALWAYS the first budget cuts every fiscal year. It is always thrown on the back burner to save the govt money. But when suicide rates are rising as well arse mass shootings from indivuduals with mental health issues, maybe it is time they look at the real issue and not blame the guns.

Treating the symptom is cheaper than the disease.

Best just to get rid of it. I deleted Instagram and changed my Twitter to essentially just be a news feed (I never Tweet myself just follow reporters).

I feel like I have more time and freedom. The only time it's a negative is when someone asks to follow you, and girls look at you like your crazy for not having one. Then they find it interesting though and that turns them on. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.

Are you a LAC? I teach and do Case Management (more of the interventions side though) in school with kids that have Behavioral and Emotional issues.

It is somewhat like a Alternative School and Day Treatment Facility, except they are all not self contained.

I am the same with twitter, never tweet but follow people that post news I like too read. I never post anything on facebook anymore except for pictures so my family I don't see often can keep up with my wife and I. Instagram is pretty much the same way. I'll probably a picture or 2 a month, maybe more if I've gone on a trip. But as far as updating my statuses and commenting on things and whatnot, haven't done that in a long, long time. I think a lot of it has to do with being married and 33 years old. Social media was much more useful in college when I was single. When facebook came out my sophomore year in college, it was pretty awesome being able to "flirt" with girls you met the night before so easily.

Isn't that one in the same? Gun violence isn't so much a symptom of mental illness but rather one of the many different end results due to psychotic behavior. Unfortunately, many of the symptoms of mental illness either go unnoticed or people simply don't care to take preventative measures to do anything about symptoms when they become present.

That’s so unbelievably sad. I’m heartbroken for his loved ones, family, friends, teammates. Way too young

It's sad to say but most people don't understand mental health. It's even more sad to say most people don't understand how to be a good friend/ listener.

all I can think about is how hard it is to tell someone about your issues/ trauma and not be scared that they will never talk to you again. If you can be a good friend.

While innocent humor saying someone has aspergers/ autism, a female is fat and other things we innocently joke about. Think twice because you don't know who you will push over the edge.
