This is 100% true, but what is effective in winning matches is dictated by the court speed, rackets, and balls, aside from those who lack the ability or willingness to change. If clay wasn’t a surface, do you think Rafa would continue to mindlessly try to RPM everyone to death like Thiem? Of course not.

No one is faulting the rallybots like Chung for doing what they do, but when a style of play suited for clay is good enough to win on hard courts or grass, it’s kinda common sense that something is not right. Just like if everything was sped up and Ivo Karlovic had 15 grand slams.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but that's why I whine a bit when guys are having to retire in majors. It's just becoming about who can outlast the other dude and who sets up with a good draw where you didn't have to burn a lot of fuel in prior rounds. The sport is not in a great place IMO.
