Just completed the series of 4 books.
Really fun listens if anyone is looking for something to pick up.
Synopsis of book 1:
A family of survivors who fight back against a zombie plague that has brought down civilization. Zombies are real. And we made them. Are you prepared for the zombie apocalypse? The Smith family is, with the help of a few Marines.
When an airborne “zombie” plague is released, bringing civilization to a grinding halt, the Smith family, Steven, Stacey, Sophia and Faith, take to the Atlantic to avoid the chaos. The plan is to find a safe haven from the anarchy of infected humanity. What they discover, instead, is a sea composed of the tears of survivors and a passion for bringing hope.
For it is up to the Smiths and a small band of Marines to somehow create the refuge that survivors seek in a world of darkness and terror. Now with every continent a holocaust and every ship an abattoir, life is lived beneath a graveyard sky.
Goodreads have book one a 4.2/5, if you care about that sort of thing.
Overall, I liked the entire series. The characters are basically the embodiment of death on earth, especially the daughter Faith, but they are humorous and somewhat complex.
There is a bit of heavy handed “OORAH! Go military” mindset in the book, but that didn’t bother me.
The audiobooks are great and the narrator is top notch.
If you are in for a zombie apocalypse with action, I highly recommend it.

I really liked the series is well. Everything Ringo does is pretty good, actually. Very pro military. Very right-wing too, but more in a libertarian common-sense way, if you’re sensitive to that type of thing. His Empire of Man series and Posleen War series are also great. His books are always fast, easy reads.

John posts some snips from time to time on FB. There are some other authors doing some mini stories off this too

Very right-wing too,
Is it as bad as the Sword of Truth series? Or more like a Clancy novel?

It isn’t awful. He is very pro-gun and libertarian in his stances.
He is also very pro-military in all of his novels.
The good thing is that he doesn’t overtly insult opposing viewpoints. He just uses what I assume to be his stances in his stories.
What I’m trying to say is that he isn’t preachy.

That is basically what I was asking. I will probably read this after Iron Gold.

His political stances aren’t an important point to the story until maybe the last few chapters of book 4. Then it only plays a minimal role.
The books are just fun zombie killing action.
ETA: He does hate 5.56 NATO with a soul burning passion though.
