because some people really do need help
And all can get that help through their PCP, or specialists. The majority of Pain Mgt. Doctors are operating strictly pill factories. They came into existence under the premise that they were going to treat chronic pain by weaning patients off of meds, and establishing various methods for dealing with pain outside of Opiods.
The thing is, it was a sham, sounded great, and they got the green light. But when they started treating, they literally just started running patients through and loading them up with drugs, and with no end in sight. They created addicts, and have life time patients.
The world was a much better place 30 years ago, when PM didn't exist, and treating doctors knew not to hook their patients on Oxycontin for chronic back pain, a pill developed to treat pain in terminal cancer patients.
