The main problem to me is their lack of competent writers. They should use Timothy's Zahn or many of the other sci-fi writers. These modern pseudo-intellectual directors in Hollywood don't get it they never will. They didn't have to use the expanded universe per se but they could definitely used some of the writers from the expanded universe to write Scripts and then have a competent director follow it. They also need some pre-screeners to tell them the movie sucks arse if it sucks arse. I would straight up tell them everything wrong with it, but I doubt anyone ever disagrees with the movies if they're invited to pre-screenings, or consulted on the set.
