Especially in the Nola area.
A few factors go into that:
1) NOLA is landlocked. Even if there were no wetlands regulations, the cost of draining the swamps west of Kennet would be prohibitive. In Atlanta and Houston the city can just keep expanding.
2) Out of town celebrities and trust fund hipsters are buying up a lot of property. That's outside !obey coming in that isn't tied to productivity.
3) Too many Section 8 types. The government picks up most of the rent, making prices much higher than they would be if landlords were limited to charging what people can afford of they had to pay their own way.
