I just think that Bama 2017 wasn’t Bama 2016 on Offense or defense. It was especially clear on defense. They lost all 4 of their starting linebackers including 2 in the early part of that game plus Fitzpatrick got hurt. So how we judge what we did against them on Offense versus their defense is somewhat skewed because frankly it was a down year/ game due to their injuries. Yet they beat us by 2 TDs and kneeled in the red zone.
We were not very good this season on special teams, defense at times and offense despite Etling have an elite level passing rating for TDs to Ints, etc. the offense just didn’t turn the ball over a lot. In that I suppose it was improved.

The rest of the SEC being down has been an issue the last 2 years especially those teams like MO last season and TAMU. Then Arky hasn’t been the same the last 2 years because of injuries and lack of depth. It has just been bad.

Given all that, Canada probably had the best ahead of him with another spring and a chance to get more mobility into the QB position.

I wish he would have stayed.
