The National Football League doesn't employ you unless you're talented. He's been a coach for several years and he's a scrub? It's amazing how every coach we lose or let go was the greatest coaching mind in college football.

I said he was an assistant. Was he an assistant?

If so, I guess I know “anything” about his history.

Well obviously we've seen plenty of NFL people head to college and fail and vice versa.... so just because he was employed by the NFL doesn't mean much.

you said you didn't know anything about him other than what the LSU propaganda machine told you. i'm wondering why you're so lazy you can't look it up yourself.

So we sign Canada at $1.5 million for 3 years, making him the highest paid coordinator in college football, and we fire him after 1 season, still having to pay him the remainder of the contract in addition to paying for a new OC.

We need consistency and stability on offense. Firing Canada isn't doing anything good. It's a poor decision from a monetary standpoint and it's a poor decision from a football standpoint, especially if O promotes someone who has showed little to no interest in being offensive coordinator.

Who cares about Austin Thomas? You are literally building straw men to deflect from O totally fricking up his first big hire.

Even you can see the following:

1. O clearly did not do his homework on Canada or properly vet him. They panicked when Kiffin wasn’t coming and just hired the biggest name they could.

2. O is trying to fill the staff with guys be he has worked with before so he can have yes men. Not anyone to challenge him.

Both are not good signs of long term success.

We were promised top notch coordinators so we could go cheap on a Head Coach. Here are year later and than plan is already being thrown out the window. Once they name SE the O coordinator for next year (the 3rd in 3 years) then we are heading for UTexas level dumpster fire.

what shite show? we're changing offensive coordinators -- that's it.

Canada was hired by O and was supposed to be *the* guy. Now he is being run off LESS THAN A YEAR after O hired him.

O has no idea what he is doing.

This board is full of chicken littles. Canada sucks. He ran a gimmicky offense with no actual gimmick but a frickin jet sweep. Half the games I'd watch on saturdays had better formations to create mismatches, better routes, better play call etc etc. Canada sucks. Now I will be pissed if he hires Ensminger but I'm pumped to see Canada go. He was a fraud who had one good game against Clemson.

a shite load of people freaked out when AT left. not a straw man because people are also freaking out because Canada is leaving. guy i responded to made the point that staff members magically become irreplaceable once it is rumored they're leaving.

yeah firing him after one year isn't ideal but i'm not freaking out like you.

is aranda a yes man? corey raymond? dennis johnson? he's hiring people he has worked with in the past. LITERALLY all coaches do this. i see zero reason why O hiring a coach he worked with at a previous stop should be cause for concern. He hired tommie robinson and i though the running backs played very well. is he OMG A YES MAN!!

Agree to disagree. I have no faith in O making a good hire here but would love to be wrong.

I personally think we are on the edge of moving from ether to good to elite or hold to mediocre. This hire will go a long way in determining that.

If Canada needs his arse kissed or ego stroked, he needs to join a support group.

If O screws up the hire then he deserves some shite but the hire hasn't been made yet. it could very well be an upgrade. He obviously should not have hired Canada but offensive coordinator changes happen all the time.

True, but to willfully ignore his track record which is now being done is ridiculous.
quote:

In 2009, he was hired to coach the offensive line at the University of Tennessee. That season, the Volunteers allowed just 12 sacks, tied for fewest on the Southeastern Conference.
Cregg spent just one season in Knoxville before moving out to California to become the offensive line coach at USC for the next four seasons (2010-13). Cregg coached first-team All-Pac-12 selections in each of his four years with the school, including offensive tackles and future NFL first-round picks Tyron Smith (No. 9, Dallas, 2011) and Matt Kalil (No. 4, Minnesota, 2012). In 2011, USC finished second in the nation in sacks allowed (eight) despite not starting a senior along the offensive line. Kalil was named first-team All-America, while guard Marcus Martin was chosen as a first-team Freshman All-America.

quote:

In Cregg’s first year with the Broncos (2014), Denver’s offensive line featured new starters at all five positions. Despite the changes, the Broncos allowed the fewest sacks in the NFL (17) and ranked fourth in the League in total offense (402.9 ypg). Tackle Ryan Clady earned his fourth-career Pro Bowl nod.

I suppose the Chargers' propaganda machine put this out.

Not directed at you, just the ignorance of others.
