Approximately 50% of what you pay goes to insurance companies

What? You think retention is 50%? No way you can think that.

Not sure what the actual % is. Insurance companies have been one of the better performing stocks since the ACA came into effect. With respect to insurance companies, I was talking about total amount they take in for health coverage vs what they actually pay hospitals, doctors, pharmacy, etc...

By the time you take total revenue to an insurance company and subtract salaries, expenses, bonuses to management, etc... and THEN they pay for claims that are filed they are enormously profitable each year. This is the inefficiency when trying to discuss decreasing healthcare costs. Not possible with a profit taking company between citizens and healthcare providers. Maybe insurance companies end up with 60% of premiums...... who knows??
