We don't have two studs to choose from next year. We have two QBs who were highly rated in high school. We have no idea how they will perform as a starting college QB, especially Narcisse.

And that's a mistake if true.

No top school defers recruiting a QB because they assume who they already have will pan out and future QBs will sign with them. We can't make assumptions. All you can count on is the guys that are willing to sign a LOI right now.
Absolutely correct. QB is the most important position on the field. A great college QB can make up for a whole host of woes and lack of talent at other positions. Successful teams nearly always have a great QB.

The QB position is a difficult position to project. The landscape is littered with "highly rated" QB busts. And if an LSU fan has not learned that lesson by now, then God help them.

LSU doesn't know what it has at QB. No, not even the coaches. Brennan and Narcisse have not started a college game at QB.

Folks that think that we can rely on Brennan and Narcisse are ignoring the significant potential for these young men to fail to live up to their high school evaluation. They might not be busts, but they might average or below average. It's damn hard to win championships with average play at QB.

Teams that are perennial powers tend to over-recruit at QB, and let the lesser talent transfer out. LSU over-recruits at WR, DB, and other positions. We damn sure ought to do that at the most important position.

I wouldn't want to forego recruiting a player at any other position merely because I have a Sophomore and RS Freshman who have not started a game or even payed a significant number of snaps. Would you do that at left tackle? Maybe, because you have other lineman who can switch positions. You can't do that at QB.

The more QBs a team brings in, the better the chances are that one will pan out. In addition, the earlier they are brought in, the more time they have to develop into serviceable QBs.

Not signing a QB this year forfeits an additional chance at a good QB. Moreover, it also waives a year for a QB to develop into a serviceable QB.

It's a mistake.

That's irony for you. The one position that has plagued this program for years with underperformance and the general sentiment is "meh, we're good for now." I really don't get it.
