While he was at ole miss, that was freeze's offense. Week to week game planning was a collaborative effort but freeze was the primary play caller. He hired Longo this past off-season to take on those responsibilities.
His offensive style involves formationing opponents into predictable and compromising fronts/coverages and is rpo heavy. The predicament he ran into at ole miss was when teams went man free coverage to negate the rpo game he needed a stud wr that could "win" consistently vs man coverage to the solo side of trips. When his guy could win they were set. When his guy could not,they struggled (think 2016 vs lsu). The thing that lsu would have that ole miss did not is an OL and RB that would allow him to run the football vs a man free, six man box.
The offense is qb friendly as well. So much of the passing game is rpo or 1 on 1 matchups that require little in the way of post snap reads.
From a football standpoint it would be a great hire. The question is do we want the character issue and baggage?
