If you taxed them the same you'd just being paying more for social services as a single person. Having kids is expensive as shite, if you taxed them the same families would have money left. I don't have any data, but I bet it would be pretty close to even for you because of the increased people needing assistance if they didn't get those tax breaks.

This is flawed logic. Every single person in a society benefits from a more educated population. Want to keep more people off welfare? Let then get a quality education. Want to keep people off the streets? Let them get a quality education.

I totally understand the small government/libertarian mentality of "let me pay for what I use," but when it comes to education it doesn't make sense. Everyone pays for public education and they should, because everyone benefits from it.
