re: Do you know anyone stupid enough to think this tax plan is bad?

Single lawyer in Virginia making $150k/year will still see a federal tax break even if you itemize and have deductions of $10,000 + SALT. You've got to find a very specific situation to say this won't help salaried professionals in the $100-$200k range.

I'm single and salaried in the 100-200k range. It saves me 2.6k.
It's worth noting my deductions weren't enough to warrant more than the standard deduction, so I get full benefit from the deduction doubling.

smh, a pill-pushing drug dealer gets to rake in such princely sums.

I actually get less than actual retail drug pushers. That's my reward for doing extra work and training to be clinical.

If you don't mind me asking, are you working for a retail chain or a proprietary holding?
ETA: just curious cause I know a baw who owns a few stores and a compounding business and he makes so much money that I want to cry

No. I work as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital.

This won’t help young single lawyers and other salaried professionals in the $100-$200k range. And we pay taxes.

Then how do you explain the fact that I fit that description exactly and will benefit?

How many single people making six figures are itemizing though?

Yes. Recently accepted a FB request from some girl in high school and immediately realized why I never like her. Couple of weeks ago she posted about how everything she's read leads her to believe that the tax plan was going to make her homeless. Everyone was telling her she was wrong but she just stuck her fingers in her ears and screamed at the sky.

dont sit there and say "no one will benefit" and move goalposts around when people tell you youre wrong.

I said that not everyone who doesn’t benefit is a super high earner or super low earner and noted that the bill clearly isn’t targeted to benefit single filers in a certain tax range. And I made a point to note that while I won’t be hurt by it, guys in major metros with higher real estate costs, state taxes, and property taxes won’t much benefit.
We’re not even disagreeing about this, my tamberine man.

What’s the justification for making the middle/lower class tax cuts temporary? It just seems like any easy talking point for the Dems to criticize the bill.
