You know that offense set records right? Two 1000 yard WRs, a thousand yard RB and a 3000 yard QB. Offense wasn't the issue that season. The defense was

Set records, you are so right. The record for 3rd down conversions. Everyone knew we had to throw on 3rd and 5 to 8 yards and they Still couldn't stop it. The reason we had so many 3rd and longs was because Miles wanted to run on 1st and 2nd down.

Running the ball on 1st and 2nd down when you have the best college WR duo in the last half century equals a coach not using his talent.

There is a reason College football has had over 20 or 30 coaching changes (my best estimate) over the last 2 years and Miles hasn't gotten 1 offer. Miles was the worst choice Skip could have made.

The go to because it sounds so awesome. Now consider THESE given that we had an NFL QB, possibly the greatest WR tandem in NCAA history and a RB who lit up his rookie season. SEC Stats

Mett.
7th in completions
6th in Attempts
3rd in yards behind fricking Bo Wallace

People will bring up YPA but honestly. That just makes the above more absurd, not less

Hill led the SEC in rushing but let's not act like that's the reason for the passing numbers. We finished 4th in rushing basically tied with South Carolina and 6th in yards

And I'm sorry. Finishing 5th in the SEC in passing yards averaging 251 ypg was an abomination in hindsight. It basically means that despite having 2 guys nearly uncoverable and a VERY legit running game, our idiot couldn't figure out how to spread the ball around.

fricking Auburn with Tre Mason had a 3rd and 4th guy with more receptions than our 3rd

When you check other teams in the SEC, our passing game myopia is stunning in its incompetence.

And finally the whole point of offense. 5th in scoring

That team shouldn't have set LSU individual records. It should have set RECORD RECORDS!

You are asking too much of the TheRantards. They were the high water mark for LSU offense.

I know that's an LSU record (by far) - does anyone know if that's an SEC record - that's pretty impressive, regardless. If only the defense had been 80 to 90 percent of what they were in 2011 - we would have bulldozed the entire country.

Who cares about two 1000 yard receivers and a 1000 yard rusher. It does the team no good whatsoever to have production concentrated instead of spread out.

The numbers to look at are the overall numbers for the offense. In team offense we were 27th in the country and fifth in the SEC. We had a good QB, an excellent RB, and two future NFL HOFers at WR. That is poor.

Edit: We ran fewer plays than some of the teams above us. And I agree that defense was the main issue, however, offense lost some games for us, especially Ole Miss.
