They immediately called a timeout after they ran the ball on the previous drive at 58 and 53 seconds before scoring the TD If you wait literally 10 seconds before calling the time out, troy gets the ball back with closer to 20 seconds instead of 45 seconds and with troys offense that could easily bite you in the arse. Not to mention troy would've had to burn their last timeout if they wanted to conserve time before half

But that only works out that way because UNT scores on the very next play. If that deep throw to the end zone was incomplete or if they checked it down in bounds, they needed the time. It was not a goal to go situation because the ball was on the 14, so you have to run the clock thinking you may have more than 4 plays, UNT just scored with one.

if you trust your QB in the redzone, you should easily be able to get 4 plays in 50 seconds with 2 timeouts in your pocket from the 14 yard line.

If that TD was incomplete then the clock would've stopped.

If they would've gotten a first down the clock would stop until the chains

If your players go out of bounds, the clock would stop

And if you didn't rush to use your timeouts, you could have two of them in your pocket to stop the clock

50 seconds is a lot of fricking time. Troy almost went 60 yards in less time that that
