Just because a market isn't perfectly free doesn't mean market effects do not exist.

Considering they pretty much did bend over Netflix...

My position is that the cable companies are leveraging their position as both creators of media and purveyors of it. Its no different than the vertical monopolies of old, only they have allied together to form an oligopoly. Together they control what news/media you see (because they created it), and also what you have access to see (because they control your access).
