AT&T used to have horrendous service because everyone had an iPhone and their system was overloaded. AT&T improved their systems and along with the iPhone moving to other providers improved AT&T.

Comcast and Netflix reached an official agreement Feb 2014.

real talk.. if the NN repeal sticks around and holds up in court.. and the internet improves as a result i'll be happy as frick. that would be excellent.

Sounds like you just need a little time. Which begs the question; why are you in histrionics about this if you can’t tell yet what the end game will be?

It’s almost like you have received marching orders from someone...

I'm sure the development and implementation of improved networks and technology had nothing to do with the increase in speed.

Also, speaking of Netflix.

They have been charging consumers different prices for different streaming options (SD vs HD) for years. Did people go bankrupt? Did Netflix go bankrupt?

You people got hoodwinked by the big government lunatics once again.

And your egos are so big you will never admit it.

Let's say you're right.. in your scenario.. Comcast, at the expense of their own customers who subscribed to Netflix, forced Netflix to foot the bill for infrastructure upgrades? Netflix was suffering because Comcast put the brakes on their service.. and Comcast tells them to pay up or to go out of business

I doubt IndieFlix can pay that same 'delivery fee' though.

but if it doesn't and ISPs abuse consumers.. then what? Deregulation at the local level could fix it but is an unrealistic option. Is there a solution other than state/federal regulation?

Municipal...Chatanooga did it...

There's really nothing to be alarmed about...if people think it's a utility, actually treat it like one...OR, work with your ISPs...

Either way, this is much ado about nothing

Chattanooga has fricking awesome internet. It's unfortunately not legal everywhere though. Comcast would never allow that shite to happen in Nashville

Municipal is probably the best option and provides far better service than Verizon/ATT/Comcast could ever dream of

Except that in a dozen states ISP's have similarly lobbied state governments to ban municipal broadband. Or put up roadblocks that either make it impossible or completely corrupting.

And what happened today just repealed the classification that treated it like a utility.

And work with your ISP? What does that even mean? Verizon, Comcast, and ATT didn't just spend nearly a billion dollars in lobbying for this crown jewel because they plan on bending over backwards with sweet deals for the consumer now if you just ask nicely.

You seem all mixed up and not really caught up on this.

The Fed can't tell you what to do...do what you want...your town can do that, nothing will stop them

The law will stop them.

And after today, the FCC will overrule many state consumer protection laws as well. Since not only did Ajit reverse NN and abolish even the light guidelines that were in place leading up to 2015, he is forcing states to scrap their own NN laws and over-ride things like price transparency laws, or regulations on unannounced shifts in fee schedules to catch consumers with late fees, or any number of state level consumer protection laws concerning the internet:

At the immediate moment, nothing. This does however open up a pandora’s box for ISPs to screw over consumers.

This is a a bi partisan issue for most as 80% of Americans were against this move. The other 20% either don’t fully understand the basics of ISPs and what Net Neutrality was doing or just following marching orders blindly.

I clearly see that lack of understanding present here on this board reading some of you talk about it.
